The making of the face - Henderson

Here a quick glance at the making of Henderson's face

I cut the tips of the side parts and gusset off before i sew the parts, i never would find the middle when i would not do this.

The whole head is shaped like a ball, no muzzle

002

Cut some more hair, and trying to find the right colour for the eyes
Threading the eyes, and felting some white around the eyes

003004

preparation of the parts for the face … 3 long genital like looking parts will be the muzzle
the small balls the cheeks and the flat one the chin

005

In German we say sackgesicht to someone looking like this ….

006

all is attached … now …

007

lets start with the felting down and shaping it all

and some more
give the face some brows, maybe it looks better then
ok, it also needs some lids

Tutorial - Basic form - egg shape

I tried how to show an basic form.
It is not much use to shoot single photos, because i need 2 hands to hold the wool into place.
So i made a short video, and then extracted the pictures.
To compare the whole thing … i try to post the video too

Please, let me know, if this pictures actually are showing how to make an egg shape, if you feel, you would understand what i try to show you, when you never did it before.
A little bit of text to go with it :)
Take a sheet of wool in one hand, here the left hand.
Hold it flat between fingers and thumb.
Slide with the thumb of the other hand (the right one) over the outside of the sheet, bending it inward, over your left thumb.

Hold the bend edge with the right thumb, and carefully pull out the thumb of the left hand

Tutorial - make a sculpted paw

Today i show you how to get a foot like this:
When you need a better look, click on the picture to get a big picture.

To give you an idea about doll making needles, i show you a picture.
Here in Germany i bought a set of 3 - 7cm, 9cm and 12.5 cm in my local fabric store.

052001

the first thing you need, is a foot :)
you can either have the sole made of mini fabric, shaved fur, or felt over the sole - like i did in this example

First you mark the position of toes and intention of the sole with pins.
The marked spots in my example are the positions where i enter and exit with the thread.
Click on the (bad) drawing, to get the exact positions

You will need quite a long, sturdy, not breakable thread for this, i use about 1 meter.

Tutorial - shading of a sculpted paw

Here i show you how i shade my paws.

I use oil paint and a brush where i cut the hair short.
Press a little bit of paint on a paper, put a little bit on the brush.
You can see how much you need to shade lightly.
Try on the paper first, it is very little colour you need to archive the effect.

I start with pressing some paint right in between the toes - on the base of the toes

The same i do on the top of the toes
